Yeah, he's put a ton of time and money into his armor. I don't remember the exact figure, but I want to say it's something like $30,000.

Good grief. Then I wouldn't know how to get one myself without killing the poor guy in a dark alley and pinch that swag.

Much of the armor pieces are simple enough to learn to make. You might wander [link] or join a reenactment group like the SCA, you might well meet someone who's willing to teach you some armoring skills.

Thank you very much...! I wouldn't know where to get the time needed, but the fact that you can make an armour from plastic buckets is a hopeful thought, at any rate!

Have a wonderful 2013; cheers!

Yes, time is often the tricky part. I know several people that have armor constructed in whole or part from plastic buckets. I myself share a pair of cuisses with Ari that has plates made of plastic buckets. Most of our armor is second hand. We share many pieces, and there are only a few new ones between us. The ~Armoured-Saint made my breastplate, and a commissioned a gorget from another of my friends. All in all, if you know the right people, armor is surprisingly easy to put together. The price tag that rivals real estate prices is certainly not typical. ~Armoured-Saint is special that way.

Sounds like you've surrounded yourself with the right people, hehe.
Hmmm - do you keep some of it on display in the living room when not in use, I wonder? Or do you keep it on a hanger in the wardrobe?

~Armoured-Saint often has his best stuff on display on a mannequin in his dining room. All of our stuff is in tote bags or haphazardly in the garage. I think it would break a hanger pretty quickly.
